What we do

Picture
Drug-ARM is a movement of concerned community members who hold to the Christian faith. We believe that substance abuse, both legal and illegal is destructive to individuals, their families and society in general. We also believe that people deserve the best options for education, treatment and support that can be delivered. We are a non-government charitable organisation that operates largely through dedicated volunteers who care.

Drug-ARM works in a wide range of community and institutional settings to provide quality, holistically focused interventions, all tailored to meet specific needs of the group, individuals or families.

Focus on Prevention

Drug-ARM Christchurch works at both ends of the spectrum in terms of levels of drug and alcohol addiction. From youth who are only beginning to experience drug and alcohol related problems, to adults who not only have chronic addiction issues, but are often within the corrections system or living street-based lifestyles.

Prevention is a primary focus, which is why we have invested so many resources into the development of youth focused programmes. There is a huge cost to the individual, the wider community and future generations if youth (and adults) are left to continue along the path of their addiction. The success rate of working with young people from dysfunctional backgrounds can be discouraging, but for many the motivation to change behaviour can simply be the result of somebody taking the time to listen and offer sound advice and support.
